JOY II

Joy-2 – is a modern glider with the highest combination safety and flying characteristics. Designed for a wide range of pilots:
  • graduates of excellent flight schools, with flight hours not less than 20 hours;
  • weekend pilots regularly maintaining their skills;
  • experienced pilots, who prefer safe, but quality flight;
  • A glider would be interested for pilots, combining free and motor flights.

 

When we were creating a Joy-2, our main goal was not to spoil the "good old Joy» and save its high security and a friendly character, but at the same time to increase flight performance updated paraglider. Remained unchanged basic geometric characteristics (only slightly been increased elongation), but and the gain in flight characteristics was obtained through the using of new technologies:

1) smooth air intake ("shark nose");
2) 3D cutting of upper surface;
3) smaller amount of lines and less resistance;
4) new resilient material, used in the nose part of the glider on the air intakes.

 

As the result Joy-2 got more hard and "filled" wing with large internal pressure, which has a positive impact on the stability of the glider to laying down. Fold down Joy-2 became more difficult, but the same time action of the glider is not strict in the extreme situations. During depressed accelerator on the front edge does not formed the dents, at the end we have got better aerodynamics of the wing and great quality on the accelerator.

The handling of the paraglider was improved: To compare with previous version Joy-2 controls more comfortable and more effective, especially at the beginning of motion of toggles. Despite of new glider became a little bit more dynamic, the same time Joy-2 saved its "branded damping out" and comfort in the turbulent air. At the end result to fly on this glider as before easy and simple. The man who for the first time starts at Joy-2, quickly finds common language with it as if had already had the experience to fly on this glider. From the other side, capacity was increased and motion of toggles, necessary to move the wing to the full breakaway. Joy-2 became more safe for the pilot, starting to fly in the airflow. To failure Joy-2, its necessary to reel the lines.

In the upgraded version rising up into the air of the canopy has been improved. Joy-2 is lifted and filled up easier, does not have hang-up point, that makes easy start in dead calm even with a engine.

We have tested Joy-2 during the flight with power plant and did not noticed negative tendency, peculiar the free wings. In flight, with the engine Joy-2 distinguishes a high rate of climb and pleasant control. Especially Joy-2 will be interesting who have a low-power motor, and who therefore require high quality and rate of climb of the wing.

 

 

New technologies and modifications:

1) smooth air intake ("shark nose");
2) 3D cutting of upper surface;
3) 3 rows of lines throughout the wingspan;
4) less quantity and and resistance to the main lines and control lines;
5) corrugation of trailing edge;
6) a new elastic material used in the nose of the paraglider (fiberglass laminate);
7) new risers with quality slugs and less effort accelerator.

We refused from:

1) simplified design of the lower surface;
2) line of quick listing wasexcluded.

No changes:

1. Conception
Glider Joy has moderate extension that provides it security, pleasant control and comfort in flight. The same time Joy has a grate flight performance by applying it in modern technologies and solutions. Thus, high flight performance paraglider Joy obtained with minimal compromise to safety.

2. Technologies
To improve aerodynamic efficiency (especially when using the accelerator) paragliding Joy has been drastically reduced resistance of lines. The canopy has a 3 rows of the lines.

The combination of the 3-row scheme and lines from Liros (the best on the market ratio thickness / strength ) It yielded a record low total resistance of lines. Also, the increase in the flight characteristics of the glider Joy was made possible through the use of elastic inserts in the nose part of the wing.

Glider Joy has a complicated, but same time highly accurate internal structure of the wing, which was made possible through the use of automated cutting systems in our production. Decreased weight of the wing is playing the important part in the improvement of the flight and safe characteristics.

For example: the use of only SOFTLINK instead of metal connectors to connect the lines gave us a competitive gain in weight of around 100 grams. As a result Joy has one of the best indicators of weight.


3. Materials
In the production of Joy does not use any "lightweight materials", which inevitably reduces service life and durability. All materials used in Joy are "traditional". Traditionally high quality, strength and durability. These materials are used for our other paragliders (including models for the "superheavy trikes"), and has an excellent reputation. This suggests that high expected lifetime of the paraglider.

4. Safety
Joy paraglider has a high aerodynamic efficiency. But the great quality has a downside - a negative impact on safety. High quality glider better stores the energy when hit in the degraded state more "bite" and "shoots" has a sharp, aggressive behavior, which inevitably impairs its safety. In Joy we used the concept of security, the first time successful applications of us to improve the stability of flight valve kites. The result of applying this concept to a paraglider was softer and humane behavior of Joy when flying in turbulent air, and if it enters the emergency.
